Thames Valley Police is continuing its enquiries at the scene of a fatal fire in Milton Keynes.
The body of a woman was found by emergency services inside a property in St Leger Court, Great Linford, following a fire on Sunday evening.
A post-mortem examination was carried out by a Home Office pathologist last night. The results were inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out.
Senior Investigating Officer Det Ch Insp Gill Wootton said: “The lady who tragically died in this fire was middle-aged.
“While she has not been formally identified, we believe we know who she is and have located her next of kin. They are being kept updated on the progress of our investigation.
“Enquiries will continue at the property throughout today as we work towards establishing the cause of the fire and a scene guard remains in place.”
