Senior officers at Essex Police have been told they must do more to protect women who suffer at the hands of abusive partners.
The force has already been criticised for failing four murder victims.
In a new report HM Inspectorate of Constabulary says that while improvements have been made there is still a way to go to ensure that future victims of domestic abuse get the protection they deserve.
