School apology after pupils' personal details emailed

A school has apologised after the parents of an entire class were sent confidential details about 16 children - including comments about their personal hygiene.

The email blunder happened at Stanground Academy in Peterborough when an email about the class parents' evening accidentally contained 16 attachments about individual pupils.

Details included:

  • Full addresses
  • Dates of birth
  • Hygiene problems

One even revealed a pupil was on a three-month trial from a Pupil Referral Unit.

The School Principal Ged Rae emailed parents to apologise.

"Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are currently reviewing our ParentMail process to ensure that this type of error does not occur in the future."
