Chancellor challenged over cuts on Northants visit

The Local Government Association has warned that the latest round of government cuts could create a £14 billion spending black hole.

The LGA claims services that would normally be paid for by councils could end up being pushed onto other organisations like the NHS, the Prison Service or the police and that could leave taxpayers footing the bill.

The report came on the day that Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne was visiting Northamptonshire to promote local industry.
