New appeal to track down gunman

The family of a young Luton man has made an emotional appeal to help track down the gunmen who shot him. Atif Ali, who's 27, was shot in the leg in the Dunstable Road area of the town in May. He's been recovering in hospital for the past seven weeks.

The family has offered a £15,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.

Bedfordshire Police are trying to trace a silver-coloured Ford Mondeo which hit Mr Ali's car before he was shot. The registration number is YM02 XYJ.

Detective Inspector Iain Morgan of Bedfordshire Police said: "The motive for this shooting is unclear, Atif is not known to the police, he is a law abiding member of the community.

"Bedfordshire Police are doing everything they can to piece together why this has happened to a young man who had everything to look forward to in life and who will now have to live with the physical and mental scars which this shooting has caused."
