A man has died following a collision in north-east Essex

A man has died in a London hospital following a road crash in north-east Essex.

The collision happened in Jaywick when a pedestrian was struck by a yellow Ford Focuscar on Broadway just after 8am on Monday, July 8.

The 55-year-old local man was airlifted to Royal London Hospital, but died there on Tuesday, July 16.The Focus driver, a 71-year-old man from the Clacton area was arrested at the scene on suspicion of committing motoring offences and later released on police bail.

A section of the road was closed for four hours while forensic collision investigators carried out their work to ascertain what may have caused the crash.
