Police have released an efit of an east Asian man who is suspected of indecently assaulting a schoolgirl in Chelmsford in the hope that someone can identify him.
The sexual assault happened at the bus stop outside a tattoo parlour on Parkway shortly after 8am on Wednesday, July 10 when the 15-year-old girl was approached by the man who attempted to engage her in conversation before then touching her and then himself in a sexually-suggestive manner.
Investigating Officer, Sgt Mark Cadd, said: "This act happened at the Number 54 bus stop. The man stated that he was from the Philippines and had only been in the country for a few weeks.
We’re hoping, as Parkway would have been busy at this time, that someone would have seen or heard the conversation. In addition, we’re obviously looking to hear from anyone who knows this man as he needs to account for his actions.
The man’s distinctive appearance and clothing on a warm morning would hopefully have caught the attention of people travelling to work or school.”
The man is described as being of east Asian appearance, aged in his 20s or 30s and was wearing dark baggy trousers and a green hoodie at the time. However, his most distinctive feature is his wispy hairs growing on his chin.
Officers have examined CCTV, but neither the interaction nor the man have been captured on camera.
Anyone who believes they know this man or who can identify the man shown in the efit is urged to contact investigating officers at Chelmsford police station on 101.
