A coroner has been granted permission to hold a fresh inquest into the death of a man whose body was washed up on a Norfolk beach nearly 24 years ago.

The mysterious body was discovered by fishermen at Weybourne beach in October 1989.

It wasn't until last year that advances in forensic science allowed Norfolk Police to identify the man as 34-year-old Michael Sutherland, from Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, after his body was exhumed and DNA samples taken from his teeth were matched against the missing persons' database.
