Peterborough man jailed for "extreme violence"

A Peterborough man has been jailed for two years for his part in a violent assault which left a man in a coma for a month.

Joshua O'Neil, 23, was involved in the attack on Tim Ip last June during a night out in Carlisle.Mr Ip was beaten unconscious and is still recovering from his injuries.

O'Neill was jailed alongside two other members of his family.

Ricky O'Neil, 27, from Carlisle was given a 27 month prison sentence and Connor O'Neil, 20, also from Carlisle was sentenced to 20 months in a Young Offenders Institute.

All pleaded guilty to affray at previous court hearings.

A fourth man, Lee O'Neil from Peterborough, was given a two year suspended sentence after being found guilty of affray at a trial.

Judge Batty QC told them they were involved in "extreme violence in the heart of the city."
