A marked police car has been involved in a crash near Southend.
The crash, happened just before 4pm and led to the closure of the A127 just past where it was already closed due to the flooding.A marked police BMW responding to an emergency was in collision with a black BMW and a blue Fiat Punto.
The Fiat left the road and ended up in a verge. The driver, a local woman aged
in her 70s, had to be freed from the vehicle by the fire service.A woman, a man and three boys aged five, seven and 11 from Basildon, werein the BMW.
All parties, including the two police officers, were taken by ambulance to
Southend General Hospital with serious injuries.
The collision is being investigated by the Serious Collision Investigation Unitand the force’s Professional Standards Department have been made aware.
