Driver seriously injured after horses get loose on Essex road

A driver's been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after four cars and a lorry were involved in crashes on the A127 while horses were running loose in the road.The man had to be cut free from his car by the fire service.The other drivers were shocked but only had minor injuries.

Essex Police said three horses were loose: one died, one was seriously hurt and the other was unhurt.

Police said the scene was distressing and anyone upset should seek counselling.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Pc Helen Byatt at Laindon Road Policing unit on 101.
