Inquest into river drowning of 12-year-old boy

An inquest has heard how a 12-year old schoolboy drowned after jumping in the River Cam trying to cool off on a hot summer's day

The hearing in Huntingdon heard how one of the friends of Andrew Collings had asked him if he was sure he wanted to jump in, because he wasn't a strong swimmer.

Andrew did jump into the water. The coroner said everyone there had done all they could to try to save him and that his death was a tragic accident.
