Projects awarded £2.6m in lottery cash

A project which aims to prevent substance abuse among vulnerable young carers is one of eight initiatives to share funding worth more than £2.6 million across East Anglia.

Essex Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service (EYPDAS) has been awarded £316,652 from the Big Lottery Fund's Reaching Communities programme which helps communities and people in need.

The service will use a trained network of volunteers to engage with vulnerable young carers to prevent them developing substance misuse problems and to improve their physical and emotional well-being.
