A man is due to appear in court today charged with making a bomb hoax which led to an aircraft being diverted to Stansted Airport last week.

Alan Patey, 49, of no fixed address, was charged yesterday and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

A 57-year-old man, who was also arrested on suspicion of endangering an aircraft, remains on police bail until tomorrow.
