Northampton Town have signed former defender Paul Reid on a short-term deal until January, as the club bids to move away from the League Two relegation zone.
31-year-old Reid has been a free agent since his release from Scunthorpe United and previously enjoyed a successful spell at Sixfields in 2003/04 before moving to Barnsley.
The former Colchester United man is available for Saturday's clash against Morecambe, and speaking to the club's official website, manager Aidy Boothroyd said that he was happy to have secured Reid's signature.
“Paul will add leadership qualities, an aggression and some depth to the back line.
“He was fantastic for me at Colchester and I’m convinced that had he stayed fit we would have got promoted instead of finishing 7th.
“He’s in very good shape and he’s fit to go straight into the squad for Saturday."
