Nominations open for new Commons Deputy Speaker

Nominations have opened for a new Deputy Speaker

Five Tory MPs from the East are thought to be in the frame as nominations open for a new Deputy Speaker for the House of Commons.

Mid Bedfordshire MP Nadine Dorries, North West Norfolk's Henry Bellingham and Brian Binley, who represents Northampton South are all said to be in the running.

Simon Burns, MP for Chelmsford and David Amess, the member for Southend, are also expected to put themselves forward.

Voting to decide who will be the next Deputy Speaker will be held in the Commons tomorrow.
