The East is one of the safest places to live in the UK.
According to figures out this week, our region has one of the country's lowest crime rates. Measured at 53 recorded crimes per 1,000 households, offences are well below the rate of 95 per 1,000 households recorded in London.
The numbers form part of a report by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) comparing living across all regions of the UK.
Unemployment is also amongst the lowest in the country. Only the South East and the South West have slightly better records of people finding work.
However, the East is also home to one of the highest populations of people over the age of 65, who make up nearly 20% of our population.
