New cooling mattress helps babies

Doctors in the East of England have found a new way of reducing transfer times between hospitals for babies with potential brain damage. A study found that using a special cooling mattress helps stabilise babies more efficiently and enables them to be moved much more quickly.

The findings come from the largest study of its kind - involving more than 130 babies - and was based around 3 specialist care units in this region. Tanya Mercer reports.
