Anyone who thinks a nice game of Scrabble is a gentle way to while away a winter evening probably hasn't met Paul Allan.

The teacher from Rushden in Northamptonshire takes a rather more competitive view of the word game, in fact he's such a whizz at it that he'll be taking part in the national final this weekend. So what's his secret?
