Region rallies to help victims of typhoon disaster

The race to get help from our region to the two million people left displaced and homeless by the catastrophic typhoon in the Philippines.

There are around 14,000 Filipinos living and working in the East, and many are trying to get aid to their families nearly 7,000 miles away.

Local communities are rallying round to gather donations and help victims of the storm.

It comes as the Disasters Emergency Committee fund-raiser launches.
