East Unemployment rates fall

The number of people unemployed in the East of England has fallen by 23,000 according to fresh statistics from the Office for National Statistics.

Employment Minister hails "positive signs"

The number of people out of work in the East has fallen dramatically according to the latest official figures.

The Office for National Statistics found unemployment dropped by 23 thousand between July and September, to around 180,000. In the East Midlands, including Northamptonshire, unemployment dropped by about 15,000, to approximately 166,000.

Esther McVey MP, Employment Minister, is pleased with the figures.
