It began nearly a century ago, but the impact of the First World War remains strong and this week as usual the country came to a standstill on the anniversary of the armistice.
Next year, commemorations will be held, to mark a hundred years since the conflict began.
It's against that backdrop that schools in our region and right across the country are being asked to join a project looking at how the Great War is taught.
