A council in Cambridgeshire says it will lobby the Government for greater protection for pubs - after it emerged that the last pub in Hildersham near Cambridge will be turned into a furniture shop.

South Cambs District Council says the owner of the Pear Tree doesn't need planning permission to change its use - even though last year villagers listed it as an official 'asset of community value'.
