What's the value of the government school league tables?

The latest school performance league tables have been released by the Department for Education - pitting the country's high schools, sixth forms and colleges against each other.

It was a mixed bag of results in the Anglia region in 2013.

While in the East of the Anglia region, Southend managed to finish in the top half of local authorities with more than 60 per cent of pupils achieving the government's gold standard at GCSE, Suffolk and Norfolk remain worryingly close to the bottom.
