Cambridgeshire County Council is planning to cut the Cromwell Museum's £20,000 annual funding, a move that could force the museum to close.

A local campaign to stop the cuts going ahead has gained the backing of the local MP, Jonathan Djanogly. A group of history professors have also written to the Times citing the museum's importance to education and teaching.

The campaigners need to gather 3000 signatures by this Wednesday in order to force a council debate on the issue.
