A 20-year-old Luton man has been jailed for five years after he admitted possessing a handgun at Luton Crown Court today (Monday 10 Feb ).
Mali James, of Wedgewood Road, in Luton, pleaded guilty to three offences including possession of a firearm without a certificate.
Today’s conviction follows his arrest in October 2013 by Bedfordshire Police as part of a wider investigation into gun crime codenamed Operation Boson.
Assistant Chief Constable Nigel Trippett said: “Today’s result is testament to Bedfordshire Police’s commitment to reducing gun related crime.
"Since Operation Boson was set up to target those involved in gun crime 110 people have been arrested and 19 firearms have been recovered."
