More than 11,000 people have applied for jobs at a new holiday village in Bedfordshire.

Centre Parcs is due to open its Woburn Forest site in the spring.

Bosses say most of the applicants live in the local area but they have had interest from as far afield as the Isle of Man and Inverness.

Half the 1,500 roles have now been filled, with two out of five new recruits aged between 16 and 24.

Judi Leavor, human resources director at Center Parcs, said: "It's fantastic to have received so many job applications for the new site already... This recruitment drive should have a tremendous impact on the local community in terms of economic growth, both in the short and long term."
