A pathologist told a murder trial today (Thursday 27 February) that an Essex teenager died from a single stab wound to the heart.

Jay Whiston, 17, was killed at a house party in Colchester in September 2012.

Consultant forensic pathologist Dr Benjamin Swift told the court that the stab wound was delivered with at least a moderate degree of force and that Jay would have been dead within minutes.

Edward Redman, who is on trial at Chelmsford Crown Court, denies murder.

The trial continues.
