Former N-Dubz singer Dappy is due to appear in court charged with assault in Chelmsford.

Essex Police said the alleged attack happened outside a nightclub in the early hours of February 27.

He was arrested after an appearance at Chicago's nightclub in the city, and charged with assault by beating.

The 26-year-old, whose real name is Costadinos Contostavlos, was granted bail ahead of the hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.

Dappy finished in second place on reality show Celebrity Big Brother in January.
