Rail unions have launched legal action against government plans to re-privatise the East Coast mainline.
They say the line, which runs through Peterborough to connect London and Scotland, is better off in public hands.
The government believe a private company would bring greater efficiency and value for money to rail users.
The line was taken over by the government after two private operators struggled to finance the service.
The legal action also objects to the extension of the Great Northern and Thameslink franchises for services that run through much of our region.
