Braintree MP Brooks Newmark says that he is "shocked and appalled" after secret cameras filmed alleged poor care of residents at a care home near the town.
Seven workers were suspended, and one sacked, following the release of the footage.
"I'm surprised, shocked and appalled to be honest," he said.
"I certainly condemn those care workers who perpetrated this. But there are 200 care workers there and the other 192 care workers probably on the whole do a good job."
