Four people had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a lift at a castle, just 24 hours after it was reopened following a multi-million pound revamp.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene to rescue the visitors at Colchester Castle on Saturday afternoon.

The castle had only just opened after a 14 month renovation costing £4.2 million.
