Firefighters in Ely expect to be on the scene of a blaze at a spray shop unit for a few more hours.

Six fire engines and a water carrier were called to the industrial estate at Lancaster Way just before 7am today.

Eight cars, a large collection of wood, and a wooden structure on the site were all completely destroyed.

The fire is now under control but crews expect to remain at the industrial estate for a while longer.

Station Commander Brenan Morgan said: "Crews worked very hard to contain the fire between the buildings to the wood to not let it spread.

"It really was an excellent effort by the crews to prevent this fire spreading any further."
