East Anglia was the warmest place in the UK on Monday and it was the hottest day of the year so far.

The temperature climbed to 26.5°C in Essex at Writtle near Chelmsford making it the warmest place in the country.

It was the highest temperature in East Anglia since 19 May when it reached 25.9°C at Santon Downham, Suffolk.
