Work has begun to move the memorial statue in honour of scientist Francis Crick to allow traffic back on to Abington Street in Northampton.

The sculpture was first erected in 2006 to mark the Cambridge academic's work which lead to the identification of the structure of DNA in 1953.

Crick grew up in the Weston Favell area of the town.

The memorial is being moved to a new position outside Marks and Spencer.
