Lifeboat crews were called to the aid of four people who were left stranded after their jet ski broke down near Brightlingsea in Essex.
Clacton RNLI launched its D Class lifeboat and headed to the River Colne, close to Bateman’s Tower, at 6.15pm on Saturday.
Helmsman Danny Thatcher said they were found trying to make their way ashore through the mud with the jet ski.
The four were taken aboard the lifeboat and handed over to the awaiting coastguard at Brightlingsea Hard.
The jet ski had got a rope stuck in its impeller.
