Essex elderly conned out of £1m by rogue traders

A court's been hearing how a gang of rogue traders from Essex conned elderly people out of more than £1 million by overcharging them for shoddy building work.

The group, who operated around the Clacton area, targeted at least 18 victims, although police believe there may be more. The victims were aged between 65 and 99; many lived alone, had dementia or were seriously ill.

The men have admitted fraud or money-laundering offences. John John Dodds will sentence the men when all mitigation has been heard.
