Thunderstorms have started to break out over eastern parts of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
The Met Office has a yellow weather alert in force warning of torrential thundery downpours in places with the risk of surface water flooding. There's also the possibility of hail and strong gusts of wind.

The Anglia region has suffered its coldest start to August for many years and the summer weather is still on the showery side.
Some late spells of sunshine but there is still some heavy showers to come. Overnight the showers will fade.
The Perseid meteor shower will peak over the weekend and regardless of where you are in the UK skies overhead will remain clear.
