Thunderstorms have started to break out over eastern parts of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
The Met Office has a yellow weather alert in force warning of torrential thundery downpours in places with the risk of surface water flooding. There's also the possibility of hail and strong gusts of wind.

There'll be further showers, on and off, throughout the weekend especially to the north and east. It will continue to feel cool in the wind.
The northerly breeze will continue to blow showers in from the North Sea especially, but not exclusively, across the north and the east.
The East coast has been put on flood alert by the Environment Agency because of high spring tides and a tidal surge.
