Former police advisor admitted having indecent photos

A police adviser who admitted possessing indecent photos of children has been given a three-year community order. Trevor Hartwell, 71, sat on the Bedfordshire independent police advisory group - made up of civilians who gave police advice. The pensioner told a senior officer he had viewed the indecent images as research for his role. But Hartwell later admitted 12 charges of possessing indecent photos of children after his computer was searched. Hartwell, from Biggleswade, was given a three-year community order by Judge Philip Bartle QC at Luton Crown Court. He must attend 35 two-hour sessions of an internet sex offenders programme and sign the sex offenders register for five years
