Driver tells inquest woman was pushed in front of his car but evidence inconclusive

Eighteen months after their deaths, mystery still surrounds what happened to a young couple in the moments before being struck by a car as they walked along the A47 in Norfolk.

Nonita Karajevaite (24) and Tadas Zaleskas (26) died on the A47 in Norfolk.

The driver told an inquest the man pushed his fiance into the path of his car.

Witnesses have said the couple were arguing between Wisbech and King's Lynn in July 2014.

Superintendent Paul Durham said the police looked at several scenarios but there was no evidence of any of those:

  • homicide
  • they were fleeing a third party
  • a suicide pact
  • horseplay

The inquest concluded both died as a result of a road traffic collision.
