A 51-year-old man has appeared at Northampton Crown Court court via a video link, charged with the murder of India Chipchase.
The 20-year-old's body was found in a property in Northampton on Sunday after going missing on a night out.
Edward Tenniswood has been charged with her murder at his home in Stanley Road, Northampton.
Today, he was brought from his cell at Woodhill Prison in Milton Keynes.
He only spoke after that to confirm that he could see the judge, prosecutor Mary Loram and his lawyer Derek Johashen. He told the clerk of the court "I can hear you, definitely."
There was no application for bail and he was remanded in custody. There will be a plea hearing on the May 25 and a trial is due to begin on July 18.
