The New Year is bringing some long-awaited traffic changes in Ely including a bypass to cut congestion in the city.

Work will finally begin on the £32 million project to ease pressure at a notorious pinch point low railway bridge which can add up to 20 minutes to a journey.

There were objections to the plans from those including English Heritage who said new bridges would obscure views of Ely Cathedral but businesses say the benefits will be worth the disruption.
