Construction on a £36 million bypass in Cambridgeshire will begin today.
The Ely Southern bypass project aims to cut journey times for drivers in half, on what is a notoriously congested road.
The project will also feature a new walkway.
There have been objections to the plans from various organisations, including English Heritage, who believe the new bridges would obscure views of Ely Cathedral.
It's hoped the new bypass will be open to the travelling public by spring 2018.
