Peterborough United have seen off interest from Championship sides to sign young Irish goalkeeper Conor O’Malley from St Patrick's Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old reportedly attracted attention from the likes of Leeds United, but decided to join Posh instead.

O’Malley has agreed a two-year contract at the ABAX Stadium and will compete with Jonathan Bond for the number one shirt.

I am delighted to have him on board.

Without me sounding like a broken record and saying loads of clubs were after him, it is the truth.

There were Championship clubs in for him and I am really pleased he has decided to join us and look forward to working with him.

– Grant McCann, Peterborough United Manager
