Man robbed just after withdrawing £38,000 from bank

Thieves stole £38,000 from a man who had just withdrawn the cash from a bank in Northampton.

The victim went to the Santander branch at Market Square on Thursday afternoon and realised he was being followed as he walked to his car.

As he reached Guildhall Road, the thief grabbed and punched him before running off with the bag.

Description of the offender

  • White and possibly Eastern European
  • Stocky, about 5ft 8in with a dark black beard leading up to his hair which was also black in colour
  • Messy, short and flat hair
  • He was wearing a black leather jacket which looked worn, blue denim jeans and black sunglasses
