86-year-old man dies after M11 crash

A 86-year-old man from Norfolk died when his car went off the M11 and hit a tree.

Essex police were contacted shortly after 3.45pm yesterday, Monday October 2, after a blue Toyota Corolla left the northbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9 near Newport and struck the tree.

The driver, an 86-year old man from Dereham in Norfolk, was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, but died a short time later.

The road was shut for several hours while investigation work was carried out and to allow the air ambulance to land.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was driving past at the time of the collision and has dash cam footage that may help with their investigation.
