Van driver killed in Orwell Bridge crash in Suffolk

A driver who had got out of his van on the Orwell Bridge has been killed after being hit by a "large agricultural vehicle".

The Eastbound carriageway of the A14 - between Copdock and Wherstead - is set to remain closed for several hours.

The crash happened between junctions 56 and 57 just before 6.45am this morning, Friday October 20.

"A Nissan Cabstar van had stopped on the carriageway and the driver was out of the vehicle when both he and the van were struck by a large agricultural vehicle.

"Sadly, the man has died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision."

Police are appealing for witnesses.
