Northampton Town have signed Northern Ireland international Ryan McGivern on a free transfer.
The 27-year-old defender has agreed an initial short-term deal that will run until January 2018.
McGivern, who has been training with the Cobblers for the past few weeks, started his career at Manchester City and has recently played for the likes of Hibernian and Shrewsbury Town.
"Ryan has been training with us for a few weeks and has done well," said manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
"I feel we need to strengthen the squad in the central defensive areas and he will come in to do that.
"Ryan coming in provides that and with him having been on the training ground with us for a while we have had the chance to have a look at him and he has already fitted in well with the group."
