How to avoid becoming a victim of online scams

Brian Chatten from Norfolk Trading Standards joined Jonathan and Becky in the studio to talk about the widespread problem of online fraud.

It costs consumers around £42 million a year, with the majority of these crimes carried out by well-organised criminal gangs who trick people into parting with personal information such as bank account details.

The older generations are most vulnerable to scams.

Mr Chatten said people should always be aware when online, and never hand money over to someone you have never met.

Friends Against Scams is a National Trading Standards (NTS) Scams Team initiative, which aims to protect and prevent people from becoming victims of scams
