Labour steps up its investigations into Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins

Labour's national disciplinary body the NCC will rule on the future of Luton North MP Kelvin Hopkins. The decision was announced this afternoon

The 76-year-old was suspended by Labour after a party activist claimed he sexually harassed her by hugging her inappropriately and sending her suggestive texts.

In a short statement Mr Hopkins said

This issue needs to be dealt with by due process and I'm happy to go to the NCC to clear my name. I shall be making a full statement when the inquiry is complete and I am not saying anything further
